KS5

A Level Business Studies enables you to investigate different types of organisations in various business sectors and environments.  You will learn that businesses face varying degrees of competition and you will be able to identify certain problems that businesses will encounter and you will be able to plan appropriate investigations into such problems working out how a business can overcome them.  In order to be successful at this level you will need to make justifiable decisions using both qualitative and quantitative methods. 

At AS the course consists of 2 units which will be studied across one year:

F291: An Introduction to Business (This unit is externally assessed by means by means of an unseen question-and-answer style of examination paper.  This paper is worth 40%)

F292: Business Functions (This unit is externally assessed by means of a question-and-answer style examination based on pre-release case study stimulus material.  This paper is worth 60%)

If you choose to continue the subject through to A2, these units will count as 50% of the A2 grade.

At A2 the course consists of 2 units which will be studied across one year:

F295: People in Organisations (This unit is externally assessed by means by means of a question-and-answer style examination where you will be expected to answer 6 questions based on the case-study stimulus material.  This paper is worth 20%)

F297: Strategic Management (This unit is externally assessed by means by means of a question-and-answer style examination where you will be expected to answer 4 questions based on the pre-released case-study material, one of which will include a specified numerical element.  This paper is worth 30%)
